The tart, fresh lemon isthe fruit of the Citrus Medica tree. The lemon was discovered innorthern India, and spread to the Mediterranean by the end of the firstcentury. Introduced to the new world in the 15th century, the lemonspread rapidly, eventually becoming one of the most important fruits inthe Americas. Lemons are widely used in cooking, confections, pies,sauces and with fish. Lemon oil is extracted from the lemon peel toflavor and scent foods and many other products.

Lemongrass, themain ingredient in our Lemon Blossom herbal tea, is a tall, tropicalgrass which has a wonderful fresh lemon aroma and flavor. This beautifulplant is found in India, tropical Asia, Africa, South America,Australia, and in the states of Florida and California in the U.S.Lemongrass lends a wonderful flavor to Asian cooking, especially Thai,Malay and Indonesian dishes. The essential oil in lemongrass, citral,gives lemongrass its distinctive citrus flavor. In fact, citral is oftenused as a substitute for lemon oil.

For our Lemon Blossom herbaltea, we blend freshly cut lemongrass from Thailand, Egyptian chamomile,rosehips from Chile, citrus peel from the United States, rose petalsfrom Pakistan, safflower from China, ginger from India, and naturalorange and lemon flavors. The result is very colorful loose tea blendwith a refreshing, slightly tart, juicy lemon taste. Delicious hot andgreat iced.
